How can you prevent damage to your credit while you are disputing a claim?
A dentist convinced me to sign a document allowing him to charge above my insurance policy based on his false description of that insurance company's policy regarding a procedure (procedure was covered, he said it was not). I have asked for an explanation of the discrepancy which is answered only with "too bad–you signed it" As I am in the process of appealing the matter to the ins. co., what can I do to protect my credit rating, which he has threatened to damage in the meantime? If he sends my info to a collection agcy. what will I need to do to make sure it is cleared up when the matter is resolved and show I acted in good faith?
Thanks in advance.
The only thing you can do to protect yourself is to pay as agreed. I know that this does not seem right or fair, but he cannot report you to the credit agencies if you are paying. In the meantime, if you have been over charged, keep fighting it legally. If you are right, he will be forced to refund your payments. You will then be in a win/win situation.
