My bank is not reporting my credit history to the credit bureaus?
Friday
We had our credit checked the other day and found out that our bank has not been reporting our good credit with them to the credit bureaus. Do they not have to do this? We have paid off several vehicles among other items with our bank, but none of this shows up on our credit report. This has been over a period of 8 or 9 years. Also our bank is a local bank, so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Well are you talking about the vehicles or a checking account. If you had a loan with them they should have been reporting that and it should show paid for 7 years if they passed the 7 years then that is why there not showing up on your credit report. As far as checking account that never gets reported on the credit reports. I would contact you bank and find out what’s going on.

If this is a local bank, they may only use one credit bureau. Did you ask the bank which credit bureaus they report to?
There is no requirement for a creditor to report to any credit bureau. There is a way you can add these accounts to your credit report but they won’t be updated. Check here: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre03.shtm. Scroll down to "Adding Accounts to Your File".
