Can DMV report you to a Credit Reporting Agency if you fail to renew your registration?

Thursday

Can a State Dept Of Motor Vehicle ( calif.) report you to a Credit Reporting Agency if you fail to renew your registration after 3, 5 or 6 months or just add monetary penalties ? I mean my car needs to be fix because it failed the smog thats required and its expensive so thats why its taking long (supposed to be renewed by Dec. 8, 2008)

You can still register your car, but you get an extention on the Smog . Go to the DMV and talk to them. Why don't you non op it?

No. They just take the money out of your bank account or from your paycheck.

No but penalties will acrrue. What you should have done or at least do now is pay the reg fee and then file a non-op. You cant retro a non-op, long time ago you could but not now. Also depending on year of your car and the cause you might quilifiy for State assistance on the smog thing, but you need to pay the reg and peniltes first
And Grace the DMV wont garnish your wages that takes a court order in Calif and the DMV hasn't got the time or resource to do that. If DG gets caught drivng around or the car is on the street. It will get impounded, crushed and his lic will be put on hold till he pays the fees. The suspention can show up on the credit report but not the fees

if youo don't renew it you can't drive it; that's the main thing. your tag is now expired, right? Is your insurance cancelled or expired too? wait til the car is drivable and update everything. (save up money)
