Late Online Credit Card Payment?

Saturday

Last night, I realized that my minimum credit card payment was due the day before. I immediately made a payment through the credit card company's website. I noticed that it said that payments made after a certain time (it was well past that time) would be posted to my account on the next business day. However, it was never posted during the next day (today). I have a few questions about this.

Would being late by this amount of time hurt my credit report/rating?

Should I contact the credit card company asking why they did not post my payment?

Assuming that it was just taking longer to process the payment, what would be the date of the payment? Would it be today (the next business day after I made the payment) or would it be the day when they actually receive the payment from my checking account?

Contact the credit card company. They can explain what is happening.

Sure, contact them and ask why it was not posted. Yes, being late will be on your credit report.

It is possible you made the payment too late to show up overnight, but it should show something by tomorrow.

You will be charged a late fee, but it was less than 30 days late, so it should not affect your credit report or rating. However, depending upon other history, some banks might use that as an excuse to increase interest rate or discontinue a special rate (especially if you habitually only make minimum payments).
