I accidentally paid a credit card bill online with closed bank account. Will this affect my credit score?

Wednesday

This was an honest mistake on my part. The old account and new one are "saved" in the system, and I clicked the wrong one. I called both the bank and the credit card company to try and stop payment, but it was already in process. Before it got rejected, I paid the bill with the right account (so it wasn't late). So far, I had a fee (40 bucks) and my interest rate went up (though the company said they may change it back? Will this affect my credit rating?

As long as your payment is not delayed by 30 days past the due date…it won't be reported to the credit bureaus…..It might however, cause a late fee…and as you found out….credit card companies are merciless vultures that will any excuse whatsoever, like being one day late…to increase your interest rate to the default rate….
