Why did the free credit check want to charge my money?

Friday

I need a credit check on myself. I have done this in the past, and never needed to pay. Does anyone know of a free credit check without giving a penny?

You are entitled to a free copy of your credir report from each of the 3
    agencies: Experian: Equifax: Trans Union
once per year by law. As long as you don’t need it delivered by an express courrier and this is the first time you’ve asked this year
it is in fact free of charge
If you are told anything else they are desperate for revenue and are now hustling the public to stay alive

AnnualCreditReport.com is the ONLY authorized source to get your free annual credit report under federal law. The Fair Credit Reporting Act guarantees you access to a free credit report from each of the three nationwide reporting agencies — Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion — every twelve months. The Federal Trade Commission has received complaints from consumers who thought they were ordering their free annual credit report, but instead paid hidden fees or agreed to unwanted services. Don’t be fooled by TV ads, email offers, or online search results…………….

You have to be able to follow and understand directions to get it free, but you can get it free by jumping through a few hoops. They will ask for credit card information, but won’t charge you unless you fail to cancel the service in the allotted time.
