Why did the free credit check ask me for bank info?

I need a credit check on myself. I have done this in the past, and never needed to pay. Does anyone know of a free credit check without giving a penny?

    Nope I dont. You can get a free credit report, but not a free credit check.. at least that im aware of.
    The difference being a credit check is going to have your fico scoring etc on there and the report is just going to have your credit history etc by the credit bureaus.

    Some companies like freecreditreport.com offer a free report but only after you have signed up for their credit monitoring service.

    annualcreditreport.com is the ONLY free report. It will not give you your score, only a report.
