what will disqualify you during a credit check for a firefighter in Alexandria, VA?

Applying for opening in Alexandria city to be a firefighter. One of the steps is to complete a Credit Check and I would like to what they look for? I dont want to go through all the steps and find out I wont get accepted because of credit.

They are most likely looking for signs of reckless behavior….like defaulting on multiple debts. If you have multiple defaults in the past 2 years without extenuating circumstances, then this could affect your ability to qualify for a firefighting job.

    I would check with the union that represents those employees. Chances are, they know. If they don’t, they are probably looking for court jugments against you for unpaid bills, back taxes, back childsupport.

    If you want to know first what is on your credit report, download it for free at http://www.annualcreditreport.com. If everything on there looks ok, and your bills are mostly paid on time, it should be ok. If there are accounts that are delinquent or in collections, you should try to get those fixed or caught up.
