Should I request a print-out of credit check from tenants or pay for one online?

Sunday

I am looking to rent a property to tenants. I want to do a credit check but how do I do it? I've never done this before. Can I just ask them if they already have it? Are they able to tamper/change information on it? Or should I get their social and information and pay for one online? Or should we do it together? Money is not the issue, it's only like 25 bucks for it but I dont want to do anything illegal by taking their social and getting their credit report.

You are running a credit check with their approval. Learn a lesson here; if you allow someone to provide information that you should pay for and get yourself, you'll eventually get scammed.

You are a business entity here; you have the right to do a credit report before you extend them credit (ie a lease).
