I live in usa. The three companies offer a monthly or yearly fee. isnt’ there just a one time fee for ONE credit check?

    You can get a free credit report at http://www.AnnualCreditReport.com . You’re entitled to one free report from each of the "Big Three" credit reporting agencies every year. Stagger your requests every 4 months and you’ll never be more than a couple of months off from current information.

    The http://www.AnnualCreditReport.com site is the ONLY truly FREE credit report source. Note that this does NOT include your credit score. There’s an additional charge for that, typically less than $10.
