Can a landlord do a credit check without my social security number?

Monday

I applied to rent an apartment. The application says that a credit check will be ran, but it did not ask for my SS#. How will the landlord run my credit report without it?

He can certainly verify your references without a SS#. He just calls them and asks for their experience.

No, you need a SSN. Does he have financial records that have your SSN number, such as tax returns?

They can run a rental history check, to see if you broken any rental leases in the past. But a credit check will need your SSN#. Check your credit report to see if the property management company is listed there as a credit inquiry.

They will not be able to, so obviously they will not be renting to you as you can’t pass the check.
