For the free credit report check, aren’t we suppose to get the credit score for free too?

Friday

I want to know my FICO credit score for free, but none of the 3 major credit report companies (Equifax, Transunion, Experian) provide this info for free, only my good and bad (none) standings and balances.

Is there a way I can get my FICO score for free? Maybe Attorney General Consumer Affairs or Consumer Protection? Please help. Thanks.

    Unfortunately, no.

The FICO (or Fair Isaac Corporation) score is actually owned by FICO, a publicly traded company. They charge for it, and therefore so does everyone else.

The only true FICO score offering I’ve seen was with Washington Mutual. They used to offer free FICO scores as part of your credit card membership. Unfortunately this seems to have been discontinued since Chase bought them out.

There are some free FICO sites out there that utilize trial memberships (as long as you cancel the membership there is no charge). Try Score Watch at http://www.myfico.com or the Equifax Credit Watch Gold 3-In-1 Monitoring With Score Power membership.
